The Chapel of St. Jacob near Lakmartin

Close to the town of Krk

On the way from Krk to Kras, on the site where the settlements of Vela and Mala Ponikva used to be, are the remains of the chapel of St. Jacob and the chapel of St. Sylvester. The Chapel of St. Jacob was abandoned at the same time as the settlement, and it is believed that the reason for this was the outbreak of malaria in a nearby lake. Later, the inhabitants started to build a new church of St. Jacob in Kornić and used the remains of a stone altar from the former chapel to build a new one.
