The Polygonal tower in the town of Krk

The Polygonal tower in the town of Krk

This tower is located on the southwestern part of the city walls. Prince Nikola Frankopan IV had it built in 1407, as can be seen by the coat of arms and inscription carved onto a Roman stele dating back to the 1st century. The function of this six-sided polygonal building was to protect the pier and the southwestern part of the city, and was later adapted for artillery.
