The most recognisable motif of the Town of Krk

Krk’s Cathedral is actually a complex of several sacral facilities. The base is an early Christian basilica built in the 5th century on the site of Roman thermae. Throughout its existence, the cathedral has been characterised by various styles: Romanesque, Gothic, Renaissance, Baroque. It was mentioned for the first time in written documents in 1186, and is dedicated to the Assumption of Mary.
