The Island of Cres

The Island of Cres

The kingdom of the griffon vulture.

The island of Cres is one of the largest islands in the Adriatic. With its diverse flora and fauna, history and traditions dating back to prehistoric times, it is an ideal excursion destination. The steep cliffs to the north and east coasts of the island are home to the griffon vulture, a very rare and protected bird species. Old stone towns on steep cliffs, a freshwater lake with potable water and a tradition of sheep breeding and olive growing are just some of its attractions.
