St. Nicholas’ Church - Mala Luka

St. Nicholas’ Church - Mala Luka

Close to Baška

This church is located in the former settlement of Bosar in Mala Luka near Baška, and was once part of the monastery of St. Nicholas, which was located there until the 16th century. This church dating back to the Romanesque period was very probably built on the site of an older church. Traces of frescoes can be seen in the apse, on the remains of the plaster. Remains of two more churches have also been found nearby, which indicates the importance of this former settlement, which, along with the acropolis in Korintija, forms a strategic early Byzantine fortress.
